Beautiful Weather

Hello parents and students!  I cannot help but be in such a great mood due to this gorgeous weather!  Doesn't it just make people happier?  Spring has definitely "sprung" and I looking forward to the green grass and for my hostas to come back!

I wanted to share a few things with you about upcoming events/information.  First and foremost, MAPS, or MISIC, testing is going to take place on Wednesday and Thursday this week and the following Wednesday next week.  These tests are done electronically and are similar to the Iowa Tests, and that is why it is very important that your child takes his/her time on these tests and does his/her best.  Please see that your child receives a good night’s rest and breakfast the morning of the tests.  It is important that the students are well rested and prepared for testing. We have emphasized the importance of these tests to the students.  In fact, Mr. Sickles is visiting with our class tomorrow morning before our first test to explain how their test scores determine what classes they will be in for 7th grade.  This will be a very good conversation to have with the students prior to testing.  Hopefully this will motivate them to try their best.  If you have any questions, please ask.  Thanks for your support!

Because the MAPS testing is completed on the I-pads, we are asking EVERY STUDENT TO CHARGE HIS/HER I-PAD THE NIGHT BEFORE TESTING!  Students are supposed to come to school with their I-pads charged, but unfortunately for some, that is not the case.  A test cannot be completed on an I-pad that is not fully/mostly charged.  If your child has lost the charger from the school or the charger does not work, his/her I-pad will stay at school the night before charging.  PLEASE SEE THAT YOUR CHILD'S I-PAD IS PREPARED!

I am sending home book orders for this week.  This will be the last book order for the year.  It will be due on Tuesday, April 21st.  If you choose to send a check, please make checks payable to Scholastic Book Clubs.  Thanks!

Lastly, there is a separate note going home regarding our 6th grade field trip.  We are planning our 6th grade field trip on Thursday, May 7th.  We are planning on traveling to Minneapolis and participate in the Health and Fitness Day with the  Minnesota Twins.  After stretching and exercising with the Twins’ trainers, we will attend a 12:15 PM baseball game.  We plan on leaving early that morning (around 6:30 AM) and returning around 6:30 PM.  The note indicates that we are asking for volunteers for that day, so if you are interested, please indicate it on the note and return it by Monday, April 20th.   More information about this trip will be sent home as it comes closer.  Thanks!

That is all for now!  Enjoy your week and feel free to contact me with any questions.
