Homecoming Week

Greetings to all!  Can you believe that it is already October, and we are 3 weeks away from the end of the quarter?  Where has the time gone?!  We have made some steady progress in our 6th grade classrooms regarding responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, and caring.  We continue to make growth but continue to need practice in those areas.  Let's keep going, 6th graders!

This week is Homecoming.  Go Big Blue!  To show our school spirit, students have the option to dress up on the school dress up days.  The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday: Future Career Day
Wednesday: Crazy Hats & Socks Day
Thursday: Neon Color Day
Friday: Cadet Spirit Day (Blue and White)

Students have asked about wearing face paint and blue/white wigs on Friday.  We have agreed that it will be acceptable, as long as it is appropriate and not (too) distracting for themselves or others.  We ask that if your child wears the face paint, he/she comes to school wearing it.  Students will not be allowed to apply/reapply face paint at school.  If your child has a question regarding this, please ask.

Because Friday will be a crazy day with Homecoming festivities, we will have a "game day" on Homecoming with friendly game board competitions.  We are asking for any students to bring board games that we can play in the 6th grade classrooms. We do ask your child to have his/her name on the board in case the game is misplaced.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING GAMES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  Your child is also welcome to bring a snack and drink for our game day on Friday.  It should be a fun day!

Feel free to contact me any time.  Please continue to follow our class on Twitter and the class blog page.  I will continue to use the blog page as a place to check if any upcoming homework assignments will be coming due.

Lastly, there is a 3-hour early dismissal on Friday, October 9th, for Homecoming.  Dismissal time is at 12:25 PM and the Homecoming parade is at 2:00 PM.  Please plan accordingly.  Enjoy your week!
