Post Conferences and Project

Hello!  I wanted to thank all of you for attending your child's conference last week.  Hopefully you were able to gain some insight to your child's education and progress.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me any time.  Thanks again for coming in!

You may have been informed from your child, or I may have shared at conferences, that the whole 6th grade is currently learning about the Holocaust.  We have watched a documentary on the Holocaust titled "Paperclips," participated in a Holocaust simulation, and will start book clubs on the Holocaust beginning the following week.  Later  this week, our class will be learning about symbolism and they will be assigned a "Holocaust Symbolism Project."  Please watch for this assignment to come home later this week.

As far as other projects, students have a couple of assignments coming due soon.  The "My Famous African American" project is due on Friday, February 27th, and the "Augmented Reality Book Report Project" is due on Monday, March 9th.  The book is to be read by Monday, March 2nd, but the project is not due until the following week.  If you, or your child, have questions, please contact me.  Thank you!

On Friday, February 27th, the 5th and 6th grade students have been invited to a play at the Cresco Theatre.  It is a play on the history of Howard County.  We will leave in the afternoon and should return in time for music in the afternoon.  It should be a fun time!

Lastly, we will have a 3-hour early out on Wednesday, February 25th.  Students will be dismissed at 12:25 PM that day, so please plan accordingly.  Thanks!

Enjoy your week!
Mrs. McCarville
